Five minutes that make the saw safe and sharp
A dull or poorly maintained saw forces you to press — and it is precisely when you press that accidents happen. Make this routine a habit.
§Before you start
- 01Check chain for sharpness and proper tension
- 02Check mechanical assembly: everything is bolted tight and correctly adjusted
- 03Fill fuel and chain oil, and wipe up spills.
- 04Look at the chain sword and handle for damage.
§Sharp chain is safe chain
A sharp chain pulls itself through the wood and produces nice even shavings. If the saw produces mostly fine sawdust the chain is dull and needs filing. Keep the correct filing angle and maintain the depth gauges so the chain cuts in a controlled manner.
§Efter brug
- 01Clean for sawdust, dirt and resin.
- 02Check oil supply to blade
- 03Store the saw dry with blade protector on.
§When something is wrong
Never use a saw with a defective chain brake or cracks in the housing. Set it aside and have it repaired — a faulty saw does not belong in the forest.
