Checklist: electrical safety with light sign tasks
Use the list before you offer and perform a task with a light sign or light box
§Before you give a quote
- 01Is there already a legal connection point at the customer (fixed terminal block, DCL outlet to EN 61995-2 or lamp socket to DS 60884-2-D1)?
- 02If no — is it agreed with the customer that an authorised electrician will establish the connection point before you mount the sign?
- 03Is it clear between you and the electrician who is responsible for which part of the task?
§On the task day
- 01Do you only connect the sign to an already established lawful connection point — not directly to the building's fixed installation?
- 02Is the cable routed and secured so it is protected against weather, moisture and mechanical damage where the sign hangs?
- 03Is the sign's IP class (protection against water and dust) suitable for the location — outdoors, in a window or indoors?
- 04Is it clear where the sign can be turned off/on if it needs to be serviced later?

- 01Has the customer been informed of how to turn the sign on/off and what to do if it stops working?
- 02Is it noted which electrician did the permanent installation in case questions arise later?
