How to choose EUD or EUX
Two routes to journeyman certificate — what suits you?
Both paths lead to the journeyman's certificate as a ship fitter and the same craft. The difference lies in how much theory and upper secondary subjects you take with you, and what it gives you afterwards.
§Choose upper secondary vocational education (EUD) if…
- 01You primarily want to get into the trade and work with your hands.
- 02You want to be finished as quickly as possible.
- 03You prefer the workshop over the classroom.
§Choose upper secondary vocational education with general upper secondary education (EUX) if…
- 01You want to keep the door open to higher education.
- 02You thrive with academic subjects and a bit more theory.
- 03Perhaps later you dream of becoming, for example, a machinist or engineer.
§You can also change course
If you are in doubt, talk to a counselor at a vocational school. It is not a choice that binds you for life — but it is nice to have thought about what you want to do before you start.
