Work process: Hygienic cleaning of a room
Right order breaks transmission routes
§1. Prepare
- 01Perform hand hygiene and put on proper protective equipment.
- 02Prepare trolley with right agents, color-coded cloths and mops
- 03Create an overview of the room and its contact points
§2. Work from clean to dirty and top to bottom
Start with the cleanest surfaces and work towards the dirty ones, and start from the top so you don't soil what you just cleaned. Never go from dirty to clean area with the same cloth.
§3. Contact points and surfaces
- 01Wipe contact points (handles, contacts, bed bars) thoroughly
- 02Change cloth according to color code and when it's dirty
- 03Disinfect after cleaning where required
§4. Floor last
The floor is done last, from the innermost towards the door, so you don't walk over the cleaned area.
§5. Inspect and finish
- 01Check result against agreed quality level
- 02Dispose of waste correctly and clean your equipment
- 03Perform hand hygiene last.
