The fixed steps that make a system safe to work with
Stopping and securing an installation before you touch it is one of the most important routines in the trade. It follows a fixed logic, so that nothing is forgotten. Use this checklist to learn the principles — and always follow your workplace's specific procedures and your instructor's directions for the individual installation.

§Securing the system — basic steps
- 01Stop the system the right way
- 02Disconnect power (electricity, pressure, heat, steam) at the right place

- 04Relieve pressure and stored mechanical energy, so that nothing can spring out or leak out
- 05Check air system for leaks and correct air dryer function.
§When the work is complete.
- 01Remove tools and check that everyone is away from the system
- 02Put guards back in place
- 03Remove lock and mark in the correct order
- 04Report ready to the responsible person before the facility is started again
