Checklist: preparation for work in explosive area (ATEX)
The fixed checks before you perform work in a zone-classified part of the system
Use this checklist when a task takes you into or close to a zone-classified part of the installation. It does not replace the company's own ATEX-APV and work permit, but gathers the general checks you should always have under control.
§Before you enter the zone
- 01Do you know what zone type applies here — gas (0/1/2) or dust (20/21/22)?
- 02Is the zone clearly marked and does the marking match what you have been instructed in?
- 03Has a permit been issued for the specific work if required (e.g. hot work)?
- 04Has gas measurement been performed if the task requires it?
§Equipment and tools.
- 01Is all electrical and mechanical equipment you bring Ex-certified for exactly this zone?
- 02Is the tool spark-free where relevant?
- 03Have you left non-approved equipment, such as an ordinary mobile phone, outside the zone?
§Person and clothing
- 01Are you wearing antistatic clothing and footwear where required?
- 02Do you avoid materials that easily generate static electricity?
- 03Do you know the emergency procedure for exactly this area?
When the zone, equipment, and your own clothing have been checked, work can proceed according to the procedure that applies to this specific task.
