How to arrive well prepared to an apprenticeship meeting

An apprenticeship in process industry is worth its weight in gold and the conversation is your chance to show who you are. You don't need to know the job yet — the company will teach you. They're looking for someone who is reliable attends regularly is safety-conscious and ready to learn. Use this template to prepare yourself.

  • 01What does this particular company produce? (check their website)
  • 02Why do you want to be a process operator — say it in your own words
  • 03What do you know about safety and hygiene, and why do you take it seriously?
  • 04Are you willing to work shift work and show up regularly?

§Questions you yourself should ask

  • 01How does a typical working day look like at your place?
  • 02Who will be my daily trainer?
  • 03What school stays must I attend along the way?
  • 04Is there a possibility to take a specialization on level 2 with you?

§After the conversation

Feel free to send a brief polite thanks for the conversation. If you get a rejection ask if they have good advice on what you can strengthen — it shows maturity and can open a door another time.

You don't have to know everything yet — you need to show that you're trustworthy and ready to learn.
