Checklist: Playground supervision
Daily, periodic and annual supervision in one place
This checklist helps you structure playground supervision after the three levels described in playground standards DS/EN 1176 (play equipment) and DS/EN 1177 (fall surfaces). Adapt it to your workplace's own supervision plan.
§Daily/weekly supervision (routine inspection)

§Monthly/quarterly inspection (operational inspection)
- 01Check fasteners, foundations and anchors.
- 02Check for beginning corrosion or rot in load-bearing parts
- 03Assess the fall surface thickness and compression.
- 04Check moving parts (swings, cable cars, carousels) for wear.
§Annual major inspection
The annual main inspection should be performed by a certified playground inspector or other qualified person and documented in writing so the institution has a paper trail for inspection.
§Upon discovery of errors
- 01Cordon off or remove access to the dangerous tool immediately.
- 02Inform the manager/operations manager verbally and in writing.
- 03Note date, findings and who was informed.
- 04Follow up that the error is corrected before the tool is used again.
