The craft's purpose.
The surface finisher protects materials — especially metal — from deterioration and gives them the desired surface. The central concept is corrosion protection: preventing iron and steel from rusting when they meet oxygen and moisture.
The fixed sequence
Remember the chain: assess the workpiece → surface preparation → apply → dry/harden → check. Each step builds on the previous one, and you cannot paint your way out of poor surface preparation.

Quality
Quality is a clean, even coating of the right thickness without defects — and that lasts over time. Because defects are often only seen later, you control along the way: was the pretreatment good, is the layer thickness right, is the coating secure?
