Template: building corrosion protection
From pretreatment to finished surface — step by step
A durable surface is built in layers and the sequence is crucial. Skip a step and the result does not hold. Use this template as a reminder — the exact requirements always depend on the task and customer specification.
§1. Pre-treatment
The surface is cleaned of rust grease dirt and old paint. This can happen mechanically (sanding blast cleaning) or chemically (chemical baths). Good pre-treatment is the foundation — a layer of paint on a poor surface will flake off.
§2. Inspection of the substrate

- 02Does it have the right roughness for adhesion?
- 03Are temperature and humidity within the allowed limits?
§3. Applying the coats
The layers are applied in the agreed order — e.g. primer, intermediate coat and topcoat — or as powder coating or metallization, depending on the task. Make sure each layer dries or hardens properly before the next is applied.
§4. Final inspection and documentation
Check adhesion, layer thickness, and appearance, and note the results. Documentation is your receipt that work meets requirements
