Orthotist is a craft profession with a bodily core. You must master the workshop – materials, heat forming, grinding and finishing – and at the same time understand the body and the needs of the individual. Train both sides in parallel; it is the connection that makes the aid good.

Prosthesis	Assistive device that replaces a missing body part.
Impression	Negative form of the body part which the device is built after.
Heat forming	Technique where heated plastic is shaped over a mold.
Fit	How well the aid sits and works on the user.
