§Metal and fine mechanics

Metal rails and hinges are included in many orthoses and prosthetics. This is where fine mechanics comes in: moving parts must fit precisely so the aid is both safe and comfortable. You work with bending, fitting and assembly of metal parts.

§Joining

§The choice is determined by the body

In the end, the material is chosen based on what the patient needs: should the aid be light, strong, flexible or rigid? It is the interplay between material knowledge and understanding of the body that makes you a good orthotist.
