Checklist: safe operation of circular saw and milling machine
The fixed checks you perform every time before starting one of the workshop's most dangerous machines
Use this list each time you need to saw or mill. It takes only a moment and can prevent serious injury.
§Before you turn on
- 01Are guards and protections in place?
- 02Is the blade or cutter sharp, whole and tightened?
- 03Is the table clean and do you have a pusher ready?
- 04Is the extraction connected and on?
§Yourself
- 01Hearing protection and eye protection on?
- 02No loose clothing, jewellery or hanging strings?
- 03Are you standing stably and can you reach everything without stretching over the blade?
§During the work.
- 01Feed the piece smoothly and evenly — never force
- 02Use push sticks for narrow items
- 03Keep fingers at a safe distance from blade/cutter
- 04Keep eyes on the work, not on the conversation next to it
Switch off the machine, wait until it comes to a complete stop and tidy up before you leave.
