Checklist for service and oil change

Standard points in a routine service inspection

Use this checklist as the backbone of a service inspection. Always follow the manufacturer's service schedule and specific fluid and torque specifications for the individual car.

§During the service inspection.

  • 01Drain engine oil at operating temperature and replace the oil filter.
  • 02Fill the correct amount and type of oil according to the manufacturer.
  • 03Check and refill other fluids: coolant, brake, windshield and any power steering fluid.
  • 04Change filters according to schedule: air filter, cabin filter, and fuel filter.
  • 05Check tires for wear and damage and adjust tire pressure to manufacturer's specification.
  • 06Check brakes, pads, and hoses for wear and leakage.
  • 07Check lights, wipers and horn.
  • 08Check belt(s) and visible hoses for cracks and wear.

  • 01Reset the service interval in the car's system.
  • 02Delete error codes that have been fixed and check that they do not return.
  • 03Note work completed and any recommendations on the order.
  • 04Test drive the car and check for leaks under the car after work.
