Checklist: quality assurance of series

How to ensure that many identical items are actually identical and correct

Quality assurance in a series is about catching deviations early and watching along the way. An error found on the first item costs one item; one found at the end can cost them all.

§At series start

  • 01Measure the first part thoroughly according to the drawing
  • 02Confirm that setup and programming give the correct result
  • 03Correct the setup before you continue if something is different

§Along the way.

  • 01Measure a part at regular intervals
  • 02Keep an eye on signs of worn tools that change the result
  • 03Stop and examine if the items begin to deviate

§At the end

  • 01Check a sample of finished items
  • 02Sort any defective items out
  • 03Note what was inspected and any deviations
