From hauling in autumn to boat ready in the water again in spring
A boat that is well laid up in autumn is much easier to prepare for spring. Use this template as a fixed sequence instead of improvising each season.
§Upon lifting (autumn)
- 01High-pressure wash the hull before bottom paint residues dry
- 02Disassemble sails, canvas and tarpaulins for cleaning and storage
- 03Drain water systems so frost doesn't burst pipes and pumps
- 04Disassemble batteries for charging and dry, frost-free storage
- 05Ensure correct support on sawhorses, including covering
§During winter
- 01Before regular inspection of tarpaulin and support, especially after snowfall
- 02Maintain tools and equipment not used in season
- 03Plan shape, weight and length before cutting
§Preparation for launch (spring)
