Checklist for vehicle service inspection

Standard points in a planned inspection

Use the list as a backbone for a planned service inspection. Always follow the manufacturer's service schedule and the applicable requirements for the individual vehicle.

§Motor and power transmission

  • 01Change oil and filters according to schedule, and check for leaks.
  • 02Check cooling system, coolant and belts.
  • 03Check coupling/transmission function and oil levels per instructions.

§Brakes and air system

  • 01Check brake pads and discs/drums for wear.
  • 02Check air system for leaks and correct operation of air dryer.
  • 03Check spring brakes and parking/emergency brake function.
  • 04Empty containers of condensation as needed.

§Undercarriage wheels and steering.

  • 01Check tires for wear and damage and adjust pressure to specification.
  • 02Re-tighten wheel bolts to manufacturer's torque.
  • 03Check steering and suspension for wear and leaks.

§Electricity, hydraulics and completion.

  • 01Check lights, warning lights and battery condition.
  • 02Check hydraulics/superstructure: oil level, hoses and function.
  • 03Read off and rectify fault codes.
  • 04Document work performed and recommendations, and test drive the vehicle.
