Standard solution: wheel change on heavy vehicle
Safe procedure for removing and installing wheels
Use this standard solution for wheel changes. Always follow the manufacturer's torque specification and procedure for the individual vehicle and wheel.
§Preparation
- 01Park safely, lower the forks and take the key out.
- 02Prepare suitable lifting equipment and buckets with sufficient capacity.

§Assembly and disassembly

- 02Remove the wheel bolts and take the wheel off — use suitable lifting aids for heavy wheels.
- 03Clean hub and rim contact surfaces for dirt and rust.
- 04Install the wheel and tighten the bolts in the prescribed sequence (diagonally).
§Completion and post-tensioning
- 01Lower the vehicle and tighten wheel bolts to manufacturer's torque.
- 02Note that wheel bolts should be re-tightened after short driving.
- 03Inform the driver about the over-tension before delivery.
