Checklist: harvest readiness
Prepare machinery, storage and logistics before harvest
The harvest window can be short. Go through the checklist in good time so everything is ready when the crop is ripe and the weather permits harvest.
§Threshing machines and equipment
- 01Has the combine harvester been serviced, lubricated and adjusted?
- 02Are knives, skein system and cutting board in order?
- 03Are transport trolleys and access checked and ready?
- 04Are spare parts and tools available for quick repairs?
§Drying and storage
- 01Have stores and silos been cleaned and are free of old grain?
- 02Has the drying system been tested and is ready?
- 03Has protection against moisture, birds and rodents been secured?
- 04Is there space and division to keep batches separated by quality?
§Assessment and logistics
- 01Is there a plan to check maturity and water content before harvest?
- 02Is stainless steel kept separate from ordinary steel during transport and storage?
- 03Are deviations from the prescribed filler material reported before work continues?
- 04Have staffing and working hours been agreed for the harvest period?
