Checklist: daily stable inspection
Fixed routine for herd supervision.
Use this checklist at each inspection. Move slowly through the stable, observe the animals and note any deviations so they can be followed up.
§The animals.
- 01Do the animals eat and drink normally?
- 02Do all animals move freely, or are there lame animals?
- 03Are there animals standing alone or appearing sluggish?
- 04Does faeces and urine look normal?
- 05Are there signs of damage, wounds or swelling?
§Feed and water
- 01Is there fresh water in sufficient quantities and clean drinking points?
- 02Is the feed clean and without mould or spoilage?
- 03Are feeders and troughs in order?
§Stable environment
- 01Is the ventilation sufficient — no draughts or stale air?
- 02Is the bedding area and bedding clean and dry?
- 03Does manure removal and fertilizer handling work?
- 04Have pests or bird problems been observed?
