Training plan: new warehouse employee the first weeks

From day 1 to status conversation after four weeks

§Day 1: safety and overview

  • 01Review of escape routes, first aid and alarms.
  • 02Delivery of protective equipment.
  • 03Guided tour of zones: reception, warehouse, picking, packing and shipment.
  • 04Introduction to a fixed mentor/colleague.

§Week 1: basic procedures.

  • 01Goods receipt and control against delivery note under supervision.
  • 02Use of scanner and inventory system.
  • 03Safe manual handling and lifting technique.
  • 04The orientation should include the nature of the work and how many employees and volunteers are expected to perform it.

§Week 2–3: independent tasks with follow-up.

  • 01Picking and packing of simpler orders.
  • 02Participation in counting/cycle counting.
  • 03Knowledge of the company's deviation and return procedure.
  • 04Possible start of forklift training where relevant.

§After 4 weeks: status meeting.

  • 01Review which tasks the new employee can perform independently.
  • 02Identify gaps in training — e.g. certificates or dangerous goods.
  • 03Arrange next steps, including any courses or certificates.
  • 04Collect feedback from both the new employee and the trainer.
