Inspection checklist for crane and lifting equipment — daily and periodic.

A practical template for keeping track of what needs checking and when

Use the form each time the crane is put into operation and as the basis for the log the company must keep on inspections and maintenance.

§Daily inspection (crane operator, before work starts)

  • 01Visual inspection of wires hooks and visible straps for damage
  • 02Inspection of hydraulic hoses and visible seals for leaks
  • 03Functional test of emergency stop
  • 04Functional test of load limiter and warning signals
  • 05Inspection of lights, horn and other signal functions
  • 06Note any observations before the crane is used

§Periodic inspection (expert, at least every 12 months)

  • 01Thorough inspection of load-bearing parts and welds for cracks and corrosion
  • 02Inspection of brakes and safety couplings
  • 03Test all electronic safety systems
  • 04Inspection of lift equipment marking and load capacity
  • 05Written documentation of findings and repairs

§Logs and documentation

  • 01Date of inspection and who carried it out
  • 02What was found — also minor observations
  • 03What repair was made, and when
  • 04Date of next periodic inspection
  • 05Signature from the expert person.
