Preparedness plan for crane accident or accident
What you do in the first minutes, and what should happen afterwards
Review the plan with colleagues and new hires before it is needed — not in the middle of an incident.
§At the same time
- 01Stop the crane and the lift safely, if at all possible
- 02Cordon off the area so no one else is injured
- 03For personal injury: call 112 and provide first aid if you can
- 04Remove nothing unnecessarily from equipment or load unless necessary to save lives
§Information to the right people
- 01Inform the work leader or manager immediately
- 02Note the time and course while it is fresh in memory
- 03Keep the situation as unchanged as possible until it has been reviewed
§After the incident
- 01Participate in the written reporting and review of the incident
- 02Review the process with colleagues — near-miss incidents are also worth reporting
- 03Update APV or lift plan if the review shows that something should be changed
- 04Check crane and gear for damage before work resumes
