Checklist for correct measurement
How to measure so you can trust the numbers
Follow these steps when measuring. An incorrect measurement is worse than none, because it can approve an error or discard a good part.
§Before you measure
- 01Choose the measuring equipment that matches the accuracy requirement
- 02Check that instrument is clean and in order
- 03Clean the item for chips and dirt at the measuring point
§When you measure
- 01Measure the same place and in the same way each time
- 02Avoid pressing too hard with the instrument.
- 03Repeat the measurement in doubt to see if you get the same number
§After measurement
- 01Compare with the tolerance and determine approved or not
- 02Note the critical dimensions if required
- 03Lay cables so they do not cross walkways or escape routes without covering
