Review the typical requirements and expectations before you apply
Industrial engineering suits some very well and others less well. Use the list here as an honest self-test before you decide — not as a definite answer but as help to feel.
§Personal characteristics
- 01You enjoy working precisely and like to hit a target to a fraction of a millimeter
- 02You are curious about machines, technology, and how things are made
- 03You are careful, methodical, and can focus on a task
- 04You have a feel for space and numbers and can imagine a drawing in three dimensions
§Professional requirements.
- 01You meet the admission requirement (typically at least 2.0 in Danish and mathematics) or know your way in if not.
- 02You are reasonably confident with mathematics — it is used every day in measurements
- 03You are prepared for a large part of your time being in workshop and production
§Practical things to get in place

- 02Start looking for an apprenticeship early — preferably during the basic course
- 03Consider whether you should start on basic course 1 or directly on basic course 2
If you can tick off most of it, there is good reason to continue with the subject. If you are in doubt, visit a school that offers the course and ask if you can see the workshop.
