Safe work procedure with rotating machines
Fixed rules for lathe, mill, and drill.
Follow this procedure with all rotating machines. Habit is your best safety, because accidents usually happen when you deviate from what you normally do.
§Before you start
- 01Wear tight clothing put long hair up and remove jewellery
- 02Remove gloves when using rotating tools
- 03Put on eye protection
§While the machine is running
- 01Never touch a rotating workpiece or tool
- 02Never remove chips with hands during operation
- 03Keep distance from the rotating and stand safely
§When you are done.
- 01Stop the machine and wait until it stands still
- 02Remove chips with hook or brush never with your hand
- 03Put tools away and clean the work area
