Check yourself before a shift at the terminal

A correctly marked parking position

Most accidents could be avoided with a short check beforehand. Make it a habit to run through this list before you start a shift.

§Certificates and permits

  • 01Do you have the certificates that today's machines require — and are they valid?
  • 02Do you have access to the areas you need to work in?
  • 03Are there tasks today that require proof you do not have?

§Equipment on the body.

  • 01Safety shoes helmet and visible clothing in place?
  • 02Hearing protection gloves and other protective equipment ready for the task?
  • 03Is anything worn or defective so it should be replaced?

§Overview of the day

  • 01Do you know what today's tasks are and who you are working with?
  • 02Do you know today's particular risks — weather, heavy lifting, dangerous goods?
  • 03Do you know where emergency stop, fire extinguisher and first aid are?

A half-minute check at the start of your shift is the cheapest insurance you have.
