Work process for safe lift
Step by step from planning lift to load standing safely again
Use this procedure each time you lift with a crane, truck or lifting equipment. A stopped lift is always better than one that slips.
§1. Plan the lift
- 01Find the weight and centre of gravity of the load
- 02Choose machine and lifting gear with sufficient load capacity
- 03Plan the lift: is there space and where should the load go before you lift?
- 04Check weather and space — wind affects lifting at height
§2. Prepare the equipment
- 01Check slings, chains and shackles for damage.
- 02Check marking of load capacity on all gear
- 03Attach the load correctly so it hangs straight and safely
§3. Perform the lift
- 01PLACEHOLDER_100
- 02Keep people away from the area below and around the load
- 03Use clear signs or radio in cooperation with the driver
- 04Move slowly and without abrupt movements
§4. Finish
- 01Place the load safely from you on a stable surface
- 02Release and inspect the thing, and place it correctly
- 03Report any damage to equipment or cargo
