Checklist: find and get an apprenticeship
Step by step from basic course to signed training agreement
Without an education agreement you cannot progress in the main course. Finding an apprenticeship is therefore one of the most important tasks during your education. Use this template as a checklist you can work through at your own pace.
§1. Get ready

§2. Find the companies
- 01Search in the official apprenticeship listings for companies looking for apprentices
- 02Make your own list of local wholesalers, manufacturers and retailers
- 03Ask in your network – family, part-time work, and school contacts
§3. For the interview
- 01Get to know the company before you show up
- 02Have questions ready about the training and everyday life
- 03Be specific about what you can contribute from day one
§4. Get the deal in place
When a company says yes, you must sign a written apprenticeship agreement. Read through it, and ask your school if anything is unclear. If you don't get an agreement right away, stay in touch with the school—there are also school-practice-like arrangements you can hear more about.
