Control form: Stone laying and setting
Check setting before stone leaves workshop
A setting must both hold and look right. Use the sheet every time you have set a stone regardless of setting type.
§Before setting
- 01Has the stone's dimensions been measured accurately and does the seat in the metal match?
- 02Has the correct setting type been chosen based on the stone's shape and use (claw, channel, tube or box setting)?
- 03Can the stone withstand the heat and pressure the work requires — or does it require special caution?
§Under setting.
- 01Is the pressure distributed evenly so the stone is not unevenly loaded?
- 02Is it closed gently and in the right order?
§After setting you must test that the stone is firmly seated and clean the setting of polishing compound and metal dust.
