| Green | The short-clipped area around the hole on a golf course. |
| Fairway. | The clipped play area between tee and green. |
| Aeration | To make holes in the ground so roots get air and water. |
| Topdressing | A thin layer of sand or soil on the surface. |
| Growth layer | The soil layer the grass grows in — often sand-based on greens. |
| Biodiversity | Diversity of plants and animals on the area. |
§How you help a person with post-traumatic stress
Linking theory and practice. When you learn about grass needs or a care method think about when and why you would do it in reality. Notice tracks and lawns around you — why do some look healthy and even while others are worn or spotty?
Also review machinery safety and environmental rules until they are solid. These are topics you both need to explain and act on every day on the job.
