Security check: glass and locks in burglary protection
From safety class to documentation
Use this checklist each time a task involves burglary protection, so the solution matches the requirements, and you can document the work afterwards.
§Before you choose a solution
- 01Clarify desired security class (e.g. RC2 or RC3) with the customer — and with the insurance company if there is an insurance requirement.
- 02Check if existing frame and trim can at all bear desired solution
- 03Assess whether there are also requirements for escape routes or rescue openings that must be met.
§Selection of glass and hardware
- 01Choose glass type that matches the class — e.g. laminated P4A for RC2 or P5A for RC3.
- 02Choose locks and fittings that are tested and approved for the same class as the glass.
- 03Confirm that the entire element — frame, fitting, lock and glass — is tested together to the desired class, not just each individual part separately.
§During assembly
- 01Make sure that the solution doesn't block escape routes or rescue openings.
- 02Take pictures during assembly, not just of the finished result.
- 03Save product datasheets and test certificates for the products used.
§After assembly
- 01Deliver complete documentation to the customer: product selection, class and photos.
- 02Inform the customer about how the solution should be maintained to maintain its class.
- 03Note the task and the product choice used in the case so you can quickly find it again during service.
