Incorrect measurement is one of the most expensive mistakes in the trade: a wrong measurement means a new window, another trip and a dissatisfied customer. A fixed method for how you measure is your best protection.
§Measure more than one place
An opening is rarely completely square. Measure the width both at the top in the middle and at the bottom — and the height on both sides and in the middle. Use the smallest measurement as the basis so the window can fit and note how skew the opening is.

§Write it down immediately
Note the dimensions on site and clearly mark what is width and height. Take a photo of the opening and your measurements. Memory is not a measuring method – paper or screen is.
§Check yourself before ordering
Before you order, review the dimensions one more time and ask yourself: does the glass type fit, are the deductions included and does the dimension make sense for the opening? A minute's inspection can save you an entire extra trip.
