Insulation tester (megohmmeter)Used to check the insulation in the aircraft's wiring, generators and motors, so leakage current and short circuits are detected before they become critical.
Differential pressure compression tester (with calibrated orifice)Used during periodic inspections of piston engines to measure leakage past piston rings, valves and cylinder head gasket as a percentage of the applied pressure, in line with the engine manufacturer's service instructions.
Pitot-static test set (hand pump)Used for periodic checks of pitot-static instruments for leaks and correct readings, including checking the relationship between pressure altitude and altimeter setting.
Propeller balancing stand (knife edge) with calibration weightsUsed for static balancing of propellers and checking weight differences between blades, so the imbalance moment can be kept within the manufacturer's limit.
Pin gauge set for rivet hole checksUsed to verify that rivet holes are drilled to the correct diameter for the chosen rivet size, so the rivet is neither too loose nor requires excessive force to insert.
Machines
Pneumatic impact wrench / nut runnerUsed in the workshop/hangar for quick removal of e.g. wheels and landing gear, where high loosening/tightening force is needed - torque-critical joints are always retightened with a torque wrench per the AMM, as the impact wrench does not give a controlled torque.
