Study plan: preparation for Part-66 exam

Module overview, weekly routine and examination day checklist

The modular Part-66 exams require a different kind of preparation than ordinary school exams — the syllabus is large and each module must be passed on its own. Use this study plan as a template for your own.

§Map your modules

Module group (example)Focus
Module 3 — ElectricityBasic electrical engineering and circuits
Module 5 — Digital technology/instrument systemsDigital systems data recording instrument display
Module 7 — Maintenance practiceTools, moments, documentation, safety
Module 11/13 — Structure/systems or avionicsDepends on your B1 or B2 track

§Weekly repetition rhythm.

  • 01Monday-Tuesday: review new material in the current module
  • 02Onsite Ticketing Application
  • 03Thursday: review topics you scored lowest on
  • 04Friday: test yourself under time pressure, as in a real exam
  • 05Weekend: take time off from books at least one day — burnout prolongs the course

§Log your practical experience continuously

  • 01Note date, task and system for each relevant practical task
  • 02Write who supervised or certified the work
  • 03Collect it in one place so you have the documentation ready when you apply for authorisation

§The week before the exam.

  • 01Review only summaries and formula sheets — avoid starting new material
  • 02Check exam rules: what may you bring, and how much time do you have
  • 03Ensure adequate sleep rather than a long night of cramming
  • 04Plan to arrive in good time so transport doesn't become a stress factor

§Exam day.

  • 01PLACEHOLDER_94
  • 02Mark difficult questions and skip ahead so you do not spend too much time in one place
  • 03Return to the marked questions when you have answered the rest
  • 04Check that you have answered all questions before submitting
