Template: how to find your apprenticeship
A plan to secure the apprenticeship agreement
In aviation, the apprenticeship is not optional extra — it is the admission ticket to the main course. You must find a company yourself and enter into a written training agreement. Use this template to do it in a structured way instead of randomly.
§1. Map the companies
- 01Make a full run-through of the entire process, preferably with a model, before the actual test day.
- 02Note which aircraft and engine types they work with
- 03Mark those that are within your range
§2. Prepare your application
Write briefly and specifically why you want to be an aircraft technician, and what you have already done for it — courses, hobbies, projects. Show that you take the profession seriously and understand that precision and documentation are part of the job.
§3. Contact and follow-up
- 01Call or write personally — not just mass applications
- 02Ask if you can visit or do a short sniff-around internship course
- 03Follow up after a week if you don't hear anything
§4. Read the agreement before signing
When the offer comes, read through the entire training agreement—wages, terms, and which path it covers. If you're unsure, ask your trade organization before signing.
