Course plan: your aircraft technician course year by year

An overview you can hold on to

A long education course becomes more manageable when you can see it as phases. Use this template to form a picture of the journey — the exact lengths depend on your pathway and agreement.

§The phases in overview.

Phase.LocationFocus
Basic course 1 (~20 weeks)SchoolIntroduction to the main area and basic technical skills
Basic course 2 (~20 weeks)SchoolTargeted aviation trade; final exam; mandatory certificates
Main course — stage 1 (A)PLACEHOLDER_101Basic aircraft work
Main course — stage 2 (B1)PLACEHOLDER_101Mechanics: motors, propellers, structure
Main course — stage 3 (B2)PLACEHOLDER_101Electronics and avionics (can be built on).

§Keep track of it as you go

  • 01Note which certificates you have taken and when
  • 02Before logbook of the tasks you have worked on
  • 03Have a conversation with your supervisor before each new school period

When you can draw up the course yourself it loses its overwhelming quality. You know where you are what's next and what awaits at the other end: a journeyman's certificate and an international license.

A large goal becomes many small ones as soon as you break it down into phases.
