Specialization, leadership, and higher education
When you stand with your EASA license you have a solid foundation — but the trade is built so you keep learning. Technology develops and your opportunities grow with your experience. Here are some paths you can take further.
§Extend your license.
One of the most obvious ways to move forward is to expand the licence itself. If you start as a B1 mechanic, you can, for example, add B2 electronics on top and thereby cover a wider part of the aircraft. You can also obtain approval for more aircraft and engine types, which makes you more versatile and valuable to the employer.

§Courses and upskilling
The industry is course-driven because rules and aircraft models change. There is continuing education aimed at aviation where you keep your knowledge up to date and specialize further. For many technicians continuous courses are just a natural part of working life.
§Leadership and responsibility
With experience you can move towards roles with more responsibility — for example as the one who releases aircraft after work or towards planning quality assurance and management of a team. These are paths where your technical background combines with organisational overview.
§Higher education
A journeyman's certificate does not close the door to further studies — quite the opposite. As a qualified person you can build on with technical educations at academy or diploma level if you want in a more engineering or technologist direction. The practical experience you have from the hangar is strong ballast in such studies.
The point is that you choose the pace yourself. Some stay with the wrench their whole life and become experts in their field; others use the trade as a springboard to management or further education. Both are the right choices.
