Review the typical requirements and expectations before you apply
Fine mechanics suits some people really well and others less well. Use the list here as an honest self-test before you decide — not as an answer but as help to feel it.
§Personal characteristics
- 01You enjoy working precisely and are patient with small details
- 02You have good hands and steady motor control
- 03You are careful and methodical and can concentrate for long periods
- 04You have a feel for space and numbers and can visualize a drawing
§Professional requirements.
- 01You meet the admission requirement (typically at least 2.0 in Danish and mathematics) or know your way in if not.
- 02You are reasonably confident with mathematics — it is used every day in measurements
- 03You are prepared for a large part of your time in workshop/production
§Practical things to get in place
- 01Apply via Optagelse.dk before the deadline
- 02Start looking for an apprenticeship early — preferably during the basic course
- 03Consider whether you should start on basic course 1 or directly on basic course 2
If you can tick off most of it, there is good reason to continue with the subject. If you are in doubt, visit a school that offers the course and ask if you can see the workshop.
