Shuttle buses: number and time

How many buses should we order to get 600 guests out in one hour?

Answer: If guests need transport from station or hotel to the event, determine the number of buses, seats and shuttle route length and how long it takes. A shuttle run is driving out, drop-off and pick-up, and driving back. The calculator shows how many runs are needed, how long it takes with your buses, how many guests can be transported per hour, and how many buses are needed to achieve it within a given time.

Formula

Passagerer = gæster × andel der tager bussen

Busture = passagerer ÷ pladser pr. bus, rundet op

Tid = busture ÷ busser (rundet op til hele omgange) × rundtur

Busser til målet = busture ÷ antal hele rundture der kan nås inden for tiden, rundet op

Does not apply when

  • The last trip goes out but does not necessarily return, so the last stop arrives half a round trip before. The calculator calculates full round trips, and that provides some slack. Account for queues at boarding and traffic at peak times, and ask the bus company about drivers' driving and rest times for long days.

Når gæsterne skal køres fra station, parkering eller hotel, skal du planlægge busserne. Beregneren viser, hvor lang tid det tager med de busser du har, og hvor mange der skal til for at nå det i tide.

Step by step

  1. Find antal gæster og hvor mange der tager bussen.
  2. Find pladser pr. bus hos busselskabet.
  3. Tag tid på en rundtur: kørsel ud, af- og påstigning og kørsel tilbage.
  4. Busture = passagerer ÷ pladser, rundet op. Tid = busture ÷ busser × rundtur.
  5. Juster antal busser, så alle er fremme, før programmet starter.

Typical errors

  • At glemme tiden til af- og påstigning, som ofte er 5-10 minutter.
  • At regne med at alle kommer på én gang. Fordel ankomsterne, så busserne ikke venter.
  • At glemme chaufførernes køre- og hviletid ved lange dage.

Konference på et slot uden for byen

600 gæster kommer med tog, og 70 % tager bussen fra stationen. Du har fire busser med 50 pladser, og en rundtur tager 30 minutter. Alle skal være der inden for en time.
