Safety check with machine work
Before you turn on the saw or milling machine
The machines in a carpentry workshop cut fast and cannot tell the difference between wood and fingers. Use this checklist every time you work at a machine.
§Before you start
- 01Are guards and emergency stops in place and working?
- 02Is the blade/cutter sharp and mounted correctly?
- 03Are systems and aids (pushes) ready?
- 04Is the extraction connected and on?
§Personal protective equipment
- 01Hearing protection on when machines are running
- 02Eye protection against chips and splinters
- 03Respiratory protection for dusty work
- 04No loose sleeves, strings or jewellery that can be caught
