Checklist: wallpapering from measurement to delivery
Keep track of measurement, substrate, pattern and delivery
§Measurement and planning
- 01Measure the room's wall surfaces and record height and width per wall
- 02Calculate number of strips per wall and add waste to patterned wallpaper
- 03Note the wallpaper's repeat (pattern repetition) and offset
- 04Order extra wallpaper if uncertain about quantity — same production batch
§Substrate inspection.
- 01Check that wall is clean, dry and free of loose, old wallpaper
- 02Spackling and sand holes and cracks, vacuum after sanding
- 03Base absorbent or discoloured substrate before installation
§Setup
- 01Mark a vertical reference point with a level or plumb line
- 02Place the first band after the reference point, not after a corner
- 03Check pattern matching at each new pass
- 04Smooth the base out and remove air bubbles before the adhesive sets
- 05Cut away excess material with sharp knife along trim and ceiling
