Templates·Farrier·If you plan to start a vocational training as a truck driver, the basic qualification training is typically combined with the actual driving licence training — that is the fastest way to start commercial driving from 18 years old.

Plan: course review at stud farm

Systematic follow-up on foals and troubles during the growing season

Use the plan as a fixed agreement with the stud or breeder for one season. It is filled in at the start of the season and updated at each visit. The principle is little and often: frequent, small assessments and adjustments rather than rare, major interventions.

§Master data for the season

  • 01Stud / contact person / phone: ______________________
  • 02Number of foals in the year: ______ – number of yearlings (1-2 years): ______
  • 03Fixed visit interval agreed (recommended: every 4th-6th week for growing foals): ______
  • 04Cooperating veterinarian (name + phone): ______________________
  • 05Agreement on emergency contact when new deviations are discovered: ______________________

§Assessment per foal at each visit

PointAssessmentAction
Stance: leg position seen from front and sidenormal / deviation (describe)Note joint-by-joint where the deviation originates
Toe axes and hoof shape per hoofCompare with the last visit's photos
Flexor tendons: too tight (pigeon-toed) / too looseFor pronounced flexor deformity: vet
Trimming performed (what and how little)Small adjustments — never large one-sided correction
Correction applied (extension medial/lateral/toe/heel, artificial horn, glued shoe)Only after plan, when needed with vet
Photo taken (front side sole)ja / nejSame angles every time

§The season's control points

  • 01First months of life: angular deviations around code assessed at EVERY visit — the correction window here closes first.
  • 02Deviations arising higher up (knee area) are monitored over the season — slightly longer correction window, but still a deadline.
  • 03Any sudden change in stance or lameness in a foal → contact veterinarian same day.
  • 04Weaning and feed change: agree with the breeder that feeding follows recommendations — too-rapid growth is a risk factor for developmental disorders.
  • 05Season closure: combined status per foal with photo series sent to breeder and saved in journal.
