Checklist: How to find an apprenticeship
A structured procedure for seeking and landing an apprenticeship agreement
An apprenticeship is the key to the main course. Use this checklist to tackle the search systematically so you increase your chances of getting a training agreement in place.
§Before you apply
- 01Make a list of techniques and subject matter you're least confident in
- 02Write a short application that you can adapt to the individual company.
- 03Find out if you want to work in craft, industrial, café or pastry bakery.
- 04Check internship portals and ask your school's internship consultant for help
§When you make contact
- 01Call or visit in person — the bakery remembers the one who shows up.
- 02Be prepared to briefly tell why you want to learn this specific trade.
- 03Ask if you can do a short trial day or internship.
- 04Follow up after a couple of days if you haven't heard anything.
§When the agreement must be made.
- 01Make sure that the training agreement is in writing and signed.
- 02Check that it covers the entire process or explains what applies
- 03Ask about pay, working hours, and meeting times so you have a shared understanding.
- 04Get in touch with your school so they know you have an agreement in place.
