Two cars in same "color" can look different in reality. Paint ages, sunlight bleaches, and variations exist even from factory. Therefore color matching is about much more than looking up a code

Each car has a color code that tells you which base mix you start with. You typically find it on the car. The code gives you the recipe — but it's the beginning, not the answer.

If you understand how hue lightness and saturation work together you can adjust a blend consciously. A shade can pull towards yellow red or blue and small adjustments determine whether the match succeeds.
