Colour formula: scale to the amount you need

How many grams of each toner should I weigh out to 180 g base lacquer?

Answer: The colour formula from the mixing system is in grammes for a specific amount, eg 500 g or 1 litre. If you need less for a spot repair or more for a whole side, you multiply each component by the same factor. The calculator takes the formula's first four components and the amount you need and gives the factor and grammes for each component. If the formula has more components, use the factor on the rest. Always use the formula from the manufacturer's system for the specific colour code and variant.

Formula

Faktor = ønsket mængde ÷ formlens samlede mængde

Hver toner = formlens gram × faktor

The weight often shows cumulatively: after tonnes 2 it should show tonnes 1 + tonnes 2 etc.

Small toner quantities are sensitive: 0.1 g error on 1.7 g is 6%

Does not apply when

  • Never blend less than the scale's resolution allows for the smallest component. If the smallest component is below approx. 10 times the scale's resolution, blend a larger portion. Always make a spray test and compare with the car before you paint.

Step by step

  1. Hent formlen for farvekoden og varianten i blandesystemet.
  2. Tast formlens gram for hver toner.
  3. Tast den mængde, du skal bruge.
  4. Vej tonerne op efter de nye tal.

Typical errors

  • At skalere kumulative tal.
  • At blande for lidt, så den mindste toner bliver upræcis.
  • At glemme at lave en sprøjteprøve.

Examples from everyday life

Spot-reparation

Toner 1 in the formula
312.4 g
Toner 2 in the formula
120.6 g
Toner 3 in the formula
62.2 g
Toner 4 in the formula (0 if none)
4.8 g
Amount you should mix
180 g

It means: Faktoren er 0.36.

Hel side

Samme formel, men du skal bruge 750 g.

Toner 1 in the formula
312.4 g
Toner 2 in the formula
120.6 g
Toner 3 in the formula
62.2 g
Toner 4 in the formula (0 if none)
4.8 g
Amount you should mix
750 g

It means: Faktoren er 1.5. Toner 1 er 468.6 g, og toner 4 7.2 g.

Rule of thumb

How to check the answer
