Checklist: Preparation and equipment check at shift start

Start your shift knowing the car and equipment are in order

§1. Vehicle

  • 01Check tire pressure and tread depth on all wheels, including spare if applicable
  • 02Check lights, indicators and hazard warning lights.
  • 03Check fuel/charge level, coolant, and windshield washer fluid
  • 04Look for visible damage or leaks under the vehicle.

§2. Salvage and safety equipment

  • 01Check cable, wire and chain for wear, kinks or corrosion.
  • 02Check lashing straps and belts for cracks and damage
  • 03Make sure that warning triangle, cones and reflective clothing are on board.
  • 04Check lights, wipers and horn.

§3. Technical equipment

  • 01Check battery level on first aid equipment (booster) and lights
  • 02Check continuously that tiles are flush and level; avoid cavities in surface.
  • 03Make sure that the compressor and tyre repair kit are functional.
  • 04Bring hand tools and gloves for minor repairs.

§4. Documentation

  • 01Note any deficiencies or damage and report them to the workshop/colleague.
  • 02Sign for the equipment check if your company uses a logbook or app.
