What you can build on when you are a skilled automotive assistant
When you have your journeyman certificate as a car helper you are skilled – but you don't need to stop there. The Danish education system is built so a vocational education can be a springboard forward both professionally and towards completely new directions.
The most obvious further training is short, targeted courses — including labour market training (AMU). They keep your certificates valid and give you new knowledge as the trade evolves. This is typically where you update yourself on new technologies and requirements.
With experience you can take the step towards more responsibility — for example as team leader duty supervisor or transport dispatcher who plans and coordinates calls. Here parts of your knowledge of logistics and transport come into play and leadership-oriented courses can help you on the way.
A journeyman's certificate can also open the door to further education. Many qualified choose to study on a vocational academy education where a professional background is a strength. It typically requires you to supplement with some subjects — but the principle in the Danish system is that the paths hang together: you can move forward if you want.
