Checklist: Leveling and layout
Before you set out levels, gradients, and lines on site
§Before you set up the instrument
- 01Do you have the right dimensions and measurements from the drawing?
- 02Is the instrument checked and in order?
- 03Have you chosen the right measuring instrument for the task (laser, level telescope, GPS)?
- 04Is there clear line of sight to the points you need to measure?
§During sale.
- 01Check instrument accuracy with simple verification
- 02Mark elevations, falls and lines according to the drawing — not by eye
- 03Double-check critical points (e.g. drain slope and corners)
- 04Clearly mark set points so they are not destroyed along the way
§Documentation
- 01Note line and area levels in the digital measuring log
- 02Save the measurements so they can be found again in case of doubt later
- 03Inform the crew of the surveyed heights and gradients before work continues
