Template: Find and apply for an apprenticeship
How the management structure is organised in different trades
You need an apprenticeship to continue from the basic course to the main course. Finding one is a task you have a large part of the responsibility for — but you're not alone. Use this template as your plan.
§1. Map the companies
- 01Make a common standard for what the station should look like and how it should function
- 02Ask your school and your network who typically takes apprentices
- 03Use the school's contact person and official apprenticeship lists
§2. Prepare your inquiry
- 01Write a short, specific application that shows you want the profession
- 02Have a CV ready with your certificates and your basic course
- 03Practice what you'll say if you call or show up
§3. Make contact — and follow up
Many apprenticeship positions are not advertised but are found by direct effort. Call, show up and ask if they take apprentices. If you get no, ask if they know anyone who does. Always follow up on an inquiry after a week.
